Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco star in "Day Shift," a vampire hunting movie. The story is about a hardworking blue collar dad who wants to provide a decent life for his smart daughter. But his boring job cleaning pools in San Fernando Valley, California, is only a facade for his real income source, hunting and killing vampirics as part of the international Union of vampire hunters.

The premise sounds exciting, but can J.J. Perry deliver on it?

The opening scene in "Day Shift" is a crazy action sequence with Jamie Foxx shotgun blasting the hell out of an old lady who turns out to be a vampire, which then becomes this nuts fight sequence between the two of them that is such a blast. I feel like the movie really has fun with this kind of rag-doll physics in its action scenes, making those sequences pop in a way that a lot of the Netflix action movies (or action blockbusters these days) don't. When you watch a scene like this, it is easy to remember the old saying "action speaks louder that words", and while I agree with the statement, I think the key to "Day Shift's" success is the way it uses dialogue and action to develop the characters and further the plot. Jamie Foxx's villain, the vampire, is killed. His partner has a hilarious exchange about how he thought she was going "to turn into a bat, or something". These are the moments that make "Day Shift", a movie unlike any other.

Day Shift, another lighthearted and fun film, was one that I really enjoyed. It had original action and didn't require me to think too much. I enjoyed it immensely. It had good humor and I found myself laughing out loud a fair bit. It also drew inspiration from the brilliant vampire films Blade and Lost Boys, two of my all-time (updated info) favorite films. The acting was strong, the direction was superb and the cinematography excellent. If you're looking for a movie to watch that's just enjoyable and not too serious, then I would recommend checking out Day Shift. It's great fun.

Day Shift had mixed reviews. There are some great action scenes and fun characters (the brothers and Seth), but the villain is terrible and there are a lot more mediocre characters. However, that makes Day Shift even more enjoyable. There seemed to be missing scenes that were cut. Bud's neighbor acts almost like they're close friends, even though only three minutes were available before the last scene. Bud's prank phone calling at the gas station was the best moment of the movie. It was funny, and it was a great movie. The movie ended and it was not nearly as entertaining. Day Shift is, in general, a mixed bag. Some parts are wonderful, while others are awful. This movie is great for those who want to have a good time and laugh.

Snoop Dogg is the star of the movie. Snoop Dogg is the best! He's the definition of cool.
